Start in strategy consulting: Your career path

Counselling is the engine of our daily activities and our counsellors are the driving force. They take on even the biggest challenges and solve them in the interest of our clients. Their tasks as consultants are varied and the projects differ greatly depending on the topic, scope, location and client. Even though direct contact with our clients is at the heart of our work, we are a digital consultancy through and through: in addition to traditional on-site client visits, we work a lot from the office and via web conference. In this way, we promote internal cohesion and can reduce the amount of travel our consultants have to do. And regardless of which functional level you start at: you are directly involved in client projects and make a decisive contribution to our success as well as that of the client!

Starting as a student

  • Internship: FOSTEC & Company offers outstanding students the opportunity to get a taste of consulting within the framework of an internship. As an intern, you are a fully-fledged member of our team and work actively on projects right from the start.
  • Final thesis: You also have the opportunity to independently carry out a sub-project or study as part of a final thesis on the topics of e-commerce and digitalisation.
  • Working student: Are you interested in an internal position with us? As a working student, you can gain initial experience in various areas at FOSTEC & Company, such as project organisation, event planning or controlling.

Entry as Bachelor or Master graduate

  • As a Bachelor graduate, you will usually join FOSTEC & Company as a Business Analyst. You will work for our clients from day one and acquire a broad basic knowledge through close supervision by experienced colleagues. A large part of your duties will involve independently carrying out smaller sub-projects as part of the research work for our client projects. After about two years, you can advance to consultant if you perform well.
  • As a graduate with a Master’s degree, you will start as a business analyst or, if you have professional experience in strategy consulting, as a consultant. As part of the consulting team, you will work directly for clients from various industries and actively work to sustainably increase the corporate value of our client companies and implement business strategies as part of the team. Afterwards, you will take on more responsibility step by step and a career path up to partner is open to you.

Entry as a graduate with a PhD or MBA

With a PhD or MBA, you will start as a consultant or, with at least two years of consulting experience, as a senior consultant. You will be responsible for much larger tasks and projects than before as a consultant or business analyst. You will now work closely and independently with our clients, develop solution strategies and accompany their implementation together with your team colleagues.

Entry as an experienced consultant

As an experienced consultant, you will take responsibility for projects and consulting teams from the very beginning. You will deepen your relationships with our clients and develop complex strategies together with them and accompany their implementation. You will also actively contribute to the acquisition of new clients.
Regardless of the career level at which you start, we support your personal, professional and entrepreneurial development from day one through a steep learning curve. Depending on how quickly you develop, your further career at FOSTEC & Company will be shaped individually, whereby our goal is to lead you all the way to partnership in our 100% independent and partner-managed company.

Start as an Industry Expert (Expert / Senior Expert): Your career path

Our Expert Track offers you the opportunity to support our consulting team with your expertise and to prove your skills in exciting projects.
